The city of Apopka was formed more than 120 years ago, but to this day maintains its old time charm. It has a small city feel, even though Apopka is located only 12 miles to the Northwest of Downtown Orlando.
In the heart of Apopka lies its downtown on Main Street, also known as Highway 441. The city is over 30 square miles and has a population over 30,000 that is growing every day due to the expansion of Central Florida and the City of Apopka’s master plan which has been approved for growth through 2020.
Apopka is known as one of the largest fern growers in the United States, but has exploded with residential growth over the last 10 years. New commercial projects, residential subdivisions and town homes are under construction right now. This has been sparked in part by the city’s clean-up efforts of Lake Apopka have resulted in new residential projects like Ginn Company’s Bella Collina, which promises to be one of the most affluent communities in the country.
