Condos in Fort Myers, Florida are a great option for the area’s thousands of “snowbirds” – seasonal residents who live in sunny southwest Florida condos during the cold winter months up north.  Buying a Fort Myers condo affords these transient residents the option to forget about maintenance worries when they’re gone.

Other Fort Myers condo buyers are simply investing their money in a Vacation Condo which doubles are a rental-income-producing unit, and part of their investment plan.

The greater Fort Myers area includes many vacation destinations, so investors looking at rental properties often search for condos on Sanibel Island, Captiva Island or Fort Myers Beach. Tiny Bokeelia and bustling St. James City, both on Pine Island, are also options for the vacation condo search, although Pine Island is more of a fisherman’s island with no beach.

Cape Coral, the large canal-filled city adjacent to Fort Myers, has numerous condo developments in it. It has served as more of a working man’s town, with lower housing prices, until recently. Now the southern portion of the Cape is undergoing a massive upscaling, with luxurious high-rise condominium complexes nearing completion.

Many investors have been parking money in Fort Myers area condos during the past five years. Even though the market has seen its shares of ups and downs, one thing never changes in southwest Florida: the beautiful sunny weather. With twelve months of sun, gorgeous beaches, fresh seafood and a high quality of life, Fort Myers and surrounding areas have so much to offer that the desire for Fort Myers condos and vacation rental condos will always exist.

Condos in downtown Fort Myers are also turning heads, as the downtown “River District” continues its Renaissance. With the advent of the mixed-use First Street Village project, adjacent to the High Point condo project, and the completion of several other waterfront high-rises downtown, the River District is poised to become even livelier and more beautiful.

Sanibel Island, just across a causeway bridge from Fort Myers, is known for its abundance of seashells and wildlife. Exclusive Captiva Island, its village area brimming with eateries and live music, has a popular west-facing beach.  Vacation rental condos on both islands are usually booked solid during high season, mid-February to just past Easter. Vacation Condos on bustling Fort Myers Beach are fully rented during this same period.

In south Fort Myers, many desirable condos front the Caloosahatchee River, including some newer projects. Condos in the Iona area and South Fort Myers give owners easy access to the barrier islands. The latest trends are growth to the east and south of the city, where new neighborhoods continue to appear.  Of particular interest is the corridor adjacent to FGCU in Estero, which is growing rapidly; condos here are prime for annual rentals by students.
