VICTORY PARK: A NEW DEFINITION OF CONDO LIVING
[DALLAS, TX]
By Ryan Michael Faist
PART ONE
If you're driving around the West End district of Downtown Dallas, you might notice orange signs, massive cranes, and construction workers moving about restlessly. But this is no ordinary road work; this is Victory Park, and it happens to be the largest urban development project in the nation.
First conceived more than a decade ago, developers envisioned reforming one section of northwest downtown Dallas into an urban splendor of upscale high-rise condominiums to be distinguished by the innovations of world-renowned architects. The location, once a strip of parking lots, old buildings, and undeveloped land, was a prime motive for transformation, itself. Adjacent to the already celebrated West End District, the Victory Park expanse would also be within minutes of central downtown, several major highways, and several key attractions of downtown Dallas, such as the House of Blues and American Airlines Center--the home arena for the Dallas Mavericks and the Dallas Stars.
Today, this dream is a little more tangible. Driving along Victory Park Lane, which runs directly through Victory Park, you'll probably eye a 33-story grid-like tower branded at its peak with a glowing "W." This would be the W Dallas Victory Hotel and Residencies, and it is the first of its kind in the world. One glance at the well-kept greenery, sculptured water springs, and valet parking, and it gives the first impression of a five-star hotel, which would be accurate if only concerning the first sixteen floors, or 251 luxury hotel rooms. A little higher up, however--from floors 18 to 32--you will find 144 condominiums for which the term upscale is insufficient, for these are Dallas condos that redefine city living.
There are ten floor plans in the W Dallas ranging from 1,098 to 4,133 square feet. Names like "whimsy," "wink," and "winsome" denote each of the W's layouts, which include one, two, and three bedroom condominiums. Each elaborate condo features 9'8" living room ceilings, double-paned floor-to-ceiling windows, stone bathrooms, luxury kitchen appliances with stainless steel hardware, and expansive balconies that look upon the city of Dallas like personal pedestals.
And Dallas has taken to them nicely. In fact, the initial response to the W Dallas condos was such that a second tower has been risen due north.
The W Dallas is not an idea for the future. It is not a plan in the works. It is a fully operational urban delight for the present. One step into the lobby and you are greeted by doormen in suits, tall blue lighting, upbeat new wave music, and a concierge. Should you walk along the blue-lighted tiles and turn left, you will enter a wide-open lounge area furnished with leather beds, chairs and tables, a stone patio, and two long decorated bars.
Take one of the elevators to the 16th floor and you may need your swimsuit. A "zero-edge infinity pool" overlooks Dallas amid a white tiled deck and wet bar. The 16th floor also houses the Bliss Spa--5000 square feet of personal pampering. And if you are truly the person for heights, continue to the 33rd floor and discover the Ghostbar--a massive mirror-lit nightclub that shines with a glamour far above the standards of Dallas nightlife.
"Whatever/Whenever:" that is the mantra at the W Dallas Victory Hotel and Residences. It makes a little more sense when you glance at the long list of services available for patrons. Two fitness centers, personal trainers, yoga classes, pilates classes, a complete closet delivery laundry service, 24/7 appliance maintenance, pet services, botanical services, car services including detailing, and a signature restaurant by five time award-winning New York Chef Tom Collicchio are just a few reasons why W Dallas condos are of the finest condominiums in the Dallas Metroplex.
It is the premise and promise of Victory Park to provide the city of Dallas with not only sleek high-end condominiums, but a privileged condo life as well. The W Dallas Victory Hotel and Residences is one promise that has been kept. From the aristocratic architecture to the royal treatment, the W Dallas offers a new kind of city lifestyle to those who aspire to live lavishly above the heart of Dallas.
This is just one way Victory Park is changing the face of urban life in Dallas.
