Funky Ties and Martinis
Decorate, Dine and Donate Raises More than $225,000
Fort Lauderdale -- More than $225,000 was raised to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Southern Florida Chapter at the Third Annual Decorate, Dine and Donate Auction, held recently at the Design Center of the Americas (DCOTA) in Dania Beach. The successful event gathered guests from Miami to Palm Beach and from New York to Los Angeles. It was founded by Bill Feinberg, co-owner and president of Allied Kitchen and Bath in Fort Lauderdale to honor the memory of his father, friend and co-worker Nate Feinberg, who died suddenly from leukemia in May 2003.
Feinberg, who served as chairman for this year’s Decorate Dine and Donate event, established the theme of the fundraiser as “Funky Ties and Martinis,” because his father was a tie collector: “I wanted this to be a fun event that represented the fantastic spirit of my father and serve to support this very important cause,” said Feinberg. “But I couldn’t have imagined what this event would become in just three years, how many people would support it, how much money we would raise and just how much it would mean to so many people.”
A silent and live auction featured exciting items such as a Silversea cruise, Sunsail yacht charter, Viking wine cooler, plane tickets, weekend hotel getaways, dinners, jewelry and much more. The feature item of the evening was a piece of artwork by world-renowned artist Romero Britto that was auctioned for $2,100.
