Decorating That Small Condo

Decorating a small space is always a challenge. While it is possible to get condos that are actually larger than single-family homes, many people are purchasing condos with the specific intent to downsize. If this is you, or if you are one of those individuals that just aren’t looking for a lot of space to spread out in, you might be faced with the challenge of decorating a small area. There are unique architectural and design challenges that occur when you work with a smaller space, so it’s important to keep certain concepts in mind.

Be sure to avoid making any color schemes with too much contrast, in a small space. If you’ve got a tiny, tiny kitchen, making it red and black and white might not be the best idea, due to the amount of contrast in that scheme. The more contrast there is in a particular color scheme, the more exciting it is to an eye. This can work well in large spaces, but smaller areas are generally best when filled with more complimentary color palettes.

Also keep in mind that it is important to have items that do double duty, when it comes to furnishing a smaller space. You can get an ottoman with a tray on top and it can function both as a seating area and as a table. Don’t ignore your creativity when it comes to the business of making your smaller spaces shine—you’ll need all the inspiration you can get! Enjoy living in your beautiful smaller space, and welcome to life in a condo!
